A couple of days ago, Microsoft announced the retirement of the App Builder agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot and the vibe.powerapps.com experience in Power Apps. Both of these are scheduled for retirement on November 30, 2026.
This announcement does not mean we will not be able to create apps using natural language anymore. The new direction for creation natural language aps will be using Copilot Cowork and Copilot Studio. Per Microsoft, the reason for this retirement is consistency. Copilot Cowork and Copilot Studio will become the new primary experiences for creating natural language apps.
The timeline for this change is as follows:
- 9/8/2026 – Apps in Copilot Cowork available through the Frontier program
- Early October – Apps in Copilot Studio will be available as Public Preview
- Mid October – New App creation in App Builder and vibe.powerapps.com no longer available
- 11/30/2026 – Retirement of App Builder and vibe.powerapps.com
An automated migration option is planned for mid-October, and until that is available you will be able to migrate your apps manually. This process will to download the app’s source code and then ask the Copilot Cowork or Copilot Studio agent to rebuild the app by attaching the source code file.
